For Christmas my daughter gave me a blue jar filled with inspirational quotes. She was studying abroad the following semester and gave me a quote for every day she was out of the country. Plus 14 extra quotes for the days I would miss her more, I could have two quotes to be inspired by.
This is the most amazing, perfect and thoughtful gift I could ever receive. Every morning when I see that blue jar I am reminded of the love, thoughtfulness, creativity and time that it took my daughter to make these little inspirational quotes. They are inspirations of love, joy, adventure, courage, transformation, dreams, well-being, patience, success, creativity, beauty, and staying true to yourself. All of these messages make my days brighter.
There are quotes from Rumi, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Maya Angelou, Mother Teresa, Socrates, Albert Einstein, Steve Jobs, Jim Rohn, Louise Hay, don Miguel Ruiz, Vincent Van Gogh, Saint Teresa of Avila, Buddha and many verses from the Bible, to name a few. And on the back of some of the quotes, she has written her own words of encouragement and inspiration.
Every morning I awake, I look forward to opening that blue jar and seeing what the day’s message is for me. It is usually a message that I need to hear and it inspires me to be a better person and to do more. But what truly inspires me to be more, do better, be courageous, and to have love and compassion for everyone and everything, is my daughter. She has empathy for each person, does not judge others and sees the world with a positive light. And the light that shines from within her is so bright because it made from pure love. God’s love. I feel that she still remembers what God’s pure love feels like because since she was a child she had this bright light that shines from within and always had empathy for others.
She has love for everything. To me, she is an angel from God. My husband used to say when it came to my daughter that I got the girl I asked for but God gave me so much more than I ever could have dreamed. He gave me the most amazing human being I ever have met. She has taught me lessons of compassion, bravery, love and maybe most importantly, the lesson of being joyful. To have joy no matter what challenges you may face in life. She has had more challenges in her first 16 years of life than most people have in a lifetime and she still has this amazing joy for life. Of course she is human and has her down moments too, but with everything she has gone through, she still finds the joy in living. We can all use some more of that. Finding joy in life. Because when we take a look, there is so much joy and love to be found and to be grateful for. I am extremely grateful for my daughter and how she has showed me to find joy in my life again. She has become my best teacher!
I am so blessed and honored beyond words to call her my daughter! She is an angel sent from above and is truly my best gift! Thank you God for this incredible gift of sharing my life with hers! ! And I hope this post helps you to remember to find the people that are your gifts in this life. They are there. You just have to open your eyes and heart and you will find them 🙂
“You can light the world up. Shine.” From my daughter!
