Every time you turn on the news you see fear and hatred coming from many places. It does not need to be this way. We can come together as a nation and human race to start healing the world. In Michael Jackson’s song Heal The World he sings “In my heart I feel you are all my brothers”. If we can start to realize just how connected we are to each other, yes I do believe, we can HEAL the world!
In honor of Black History month, I would like to share with you some amazing quotes on love, peace and humanity.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., American Baptist minister, Civil Rights Leader, and winner of the Noble Peace Prize, Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Congressional Gold Medal.
“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” Coretta Scott King, Author, Civil Rights Leader and wife to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness.” Ola Joseph, Author and Speaker
“My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.” Desmond Tutu, South African Social Rights Activist and Anglican Bishop
“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” Maya Angelou, American Poet, Civil Rights Activist and Author
“If we lose love and self respect for each other, this is how we finally die.” Maya Angelou
“In recognizing the humanity of our fellow beings, we pay ourselves the highest tribute.” Thurgood Marshall, first African American U.S. Supreme Court member
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” President Barack Obama
“One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings.” Franklin Thomas, activist, philanthropist, and former president of the Ford Foundation
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.” Jimi Hendrix, American singer, songwriter and guitarist.
Let’s unite instead of fight. Respect each other’s differences. Through LOVE we can arrive at a common ground and change the world. You are my brother and sister. Won’t you join me to help heal the world?
