When you look at this door, what do you see and feel? Do you see a closed door and feel you can’t go in? Or do you see a door that you can open and feel excitement about what is behind the door? I think that this door is a metaphor for life. Do I stay where I am and do not try to open the door? Or do I take a chance and open the door to see what new possibilities may be awaiting me?
I myself have seen it both ways – closed and opened. There have been times in my life when I have seen and felt the door closed. At those times, I felt stuck, stagnant and hopeless.
But there are moments when I feel I can open the door and that I would discover something wonderful behind it. All I would need is the courage to TAKE A CHANCE!
Why do we hesitate to take a chance? What is the difference between the two thoughts – closed or open? I think the difference has to do with fear and doubt. Am I afraid what is behind the door or that I won’t be able to deal with it?
Today I am focusing on taking chances instead of concentrating on fear and doubt. What is the worst thing that could happen? I fail. So what? If I fail, I will have just learned a lesson on how not to do it. Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways it won’t work.” Edison also said “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Where are you in your life right now? Are you looking at the door as closed, not being able to open the door because you are afraid of what is behind it? Or do you want to take a chance and open the door to see the new possibilities that await you. Whatever you think will happen, will happen. Your thoughts will make your reality.
Take a chance and open the door! You may be surprised at the amazing opportunities that are just waiting for you!!!
