Sunrise in MalibuInspirations From Above

Many times over the last few years I have realized that we get inspirations from above. All of the sudden a solution comes to a problem that you were not able to solve before and you were not even thinking of the problem. Albert Einstein said “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” So did our thinking change or did we just receive inspiration like a sudden flash like a bolt of lightning?

Creative people over the centuries have described this sudden flash of insight as inspiration from God. Music composers like Beethoven of Brahms have felt that their creativity came from God.

“Straight-away the ideas flow in upon me, directly from God, and not only do I see distinct themes in my mind’s eye, but they are clothed in the right forms, harmonies, and orchestration. Measure by measure the finished product is revealed to me when I am in those rare, inspired moods.” Johannes Brahms.

Many have described that this insight came all at once and not in bits and pieces. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow stated “It did not come into my mind by lines, but by stanzas.”

I believe that God, Spirit, the angels, muses, or whatever name you give to this inspiration is real and we are being given this gift frequently. We just are not in tune to the signs because we are so busy in our lives that we miss their inspiration. If we just take some quiet time to pause, even for a few moments, we will get more in touch with this help and recognize it for what it is: heavenly help!

Many inspirations are simple. They do not have to be big ones like Mozart’s Concertos. But you know when you receive a big one because it is an ah-ha moment or you get chills running through your body. Or the solution or creative insight comes all at once and not just bit by bit.

So take some time during the day to recognize this inspiration because the more you recognize it, the more inspiration you will receive. I will leave you with another quote from Brahms –

“The contact of inspiration though God cannot be done merely by will power working through the conscious mind, which is an evolutionary product of the physical realm and perishes with the body. It can only be accomplished by the soul-powers within – the real ego that survives bodily death. Those powers are quiescent to the conscious mind unless illumined by Spirit.”

“Open up your mind and let Spirit enlighten you!” Lynn Lok-Payne

(Happy birthday Don! Maybe that is where this inspiration came from.)
